Coverage and methodology

The model years on this page are the Ford Explorer years in the SpecSizes catalog. They are not a complete production history. The span from the earliest to the latest year does not mean every year in between is included.

Choose a model year before using a measurement for a garage, a part, or a comparison. Equipment and dimensions can differ by year and configuration.

Dimensions for a year summarize the configurations recorded for that year. A single figure is one recorded value. A range is the smallest and largest recorded value for that measurement. Those ends can come from different configurations, so the range is not the size of one vehicle.

Not recorded means that measurement is not in the current catalog for that year. It does not mean the vehicle has no such dimension.

Width is the recorded exterior body width for each configuration.

Generation names are catalog assignments. The years under a generation are covered model years linked to it, not a production date range. Years without an assignment remain in the model-year directory.
